Brendan & Sharanya
Our Journey
We both met at the University of Michigan in 2019! I saw him for the first time at our favourite Ann Arbor spot, a cute cafe we would frequent on the weekends.

Ann Arbor
After graduating in 2019, I flew straight to Japan for a little over a month. Brendan was super sad and cried every day while I was gone. As soon as I landed back in the States he asked me to be his girlfriend. I said "yes" because it turns out I had already told all my friends and the entire nation of Japan he was my boyfriend ;)
While living in Ann Arbor we traveled to New York, Chicago, and the Dominican Republic.
Both of us went to UM from 2019-2021. I was pursuing my master's degree and Brendan was finishing his bachelor's of engineering degree. We graduated together in May of 2021. We had the unique experience of being students during a pandemic and quarantining with our best friends, Cole and Ashley!

Detroit
After graduating in the middle of the pandemic, we decided to move to Detroit. We lived in downtown Detroit for 2 years and then bought our first home in New Center, Detroit in 2023 where we now live. While living in Detroit we love to watch "sports", host our friends, spend time with our families, and eat a lot of good food.
We still continue to travel and take trips with our friends. We like to travel in the US and have also made our way to India, Portugal, Spain, and Iceland.
Proposal
I really wanted Brendan to propose. He’s the absolute love of my life, and I knew it immediately. He finally proposed in June of 2024—cutest, most perfect proposal ever—but it wasn’t a surprise (because I kind of ruined it… multiple times). I might have interrogated our friends and family into silence. If you know, you know.
Even though I knew it was coming, it didn’t take away from the moment. The morning of, we ate breakfast together at home. I kept trying to get clues, but he was too good. We got in the car and he surprised me by heading to my favourite museum and gardens. We were both crying on the way there, listening to our favourite songs and taking in how our lives were about to change.
We got to the location and he handed me a book he’d written full of poems and notes. I wasn't wearing my glasses so it took longer than he expected for me to read it. When I got to the last page—there he was, on one knee. I said "yes"before he could ask.
My childhood best friend, Vishakha, was the photographer! I didn't realize until the end because, again, I wasn't wearing my glasses.
After Brendan proposed he organized a surprise party with all our best friends and family. It was perfect.
Later that summer we had an engagement party to celebrate with more family and friends. It was a perfect, perfect summer filled with so much love. We are BLESSED!

We are so excited to celebrate with you and make more memories on December 27, 2025!!
